New products

We have three new products available for MakerBeamXL: two brackets and a long version of the T-slot nut XL.

Let’s start with the new longer T-slot nut, article number 104555.

This T-slot nut was created to give both more strength to your connection and to make it easier to fasten the brackets. Sometimes only one nut is needed to slide the bracket into the beam, see below.

MakerBeamXL (15x15mm) is sometimes used for projects that require a bit of extra stifness. The triangular corner bracket provides this bit of sturdiness. The triangular corner brackets for MakerBeamXL are packed 12 in a bag, article number 104599.

The triangular corner brackets do have a downside. The brackets take up more of the slot so it is less easy to use the slots for sheets to create a case. It is easier then to use the right angle brackets (article number 101732).

Last but not least we created the straight bracket for MakerBeamXL, article number 104623. The possibilities for the straight brackets are endless so that is why we added this bracket to the MakerBeamXL product range.

New product: sponge rubber cord

We added a new small product to our product range: sponge rubber rectangular cord 5x5mm for MakerBeam (10x10mm), article number 104454. The rubber cord can be used to create surface protection. Or protection for something else like a tablet, see the tablet stand below.

The cord only barely fits the T-slot of MakerBeam (10x10mm). Part of the rubber will stick out and create a cushioning band.

The sponge rubber can be easily cut into the desired custom lengths. You have to stretch the rubber somewhat to fit the T-slot, see pictures.

The 5x5mm cord will only fit the MakerBeam (10x10mm) like this. We are working to introduce an alternative for MakerBeamXL and OpenBeam shortly.

OpenBeam Kossel lengths are end of line

MakerBeamXL will replace the black anodised OpenBeam Kossel longer lengths (750mm, 360mm) once these are out stock. The clear anodised version and the shorter lengths (600mm and 240mm) will not be replaced.

Due to disappointing sales we made the decision to stop selling the shorter lengths that are meant for building a Kossel printer. The 600mm OpenBeam black (100685 – already sold out) and clear (100832) anodised and the OpenBeam 240mm black (100641) and clear anodised (100809) are end of line.

For the longer lengths (750mm and 360mm) we made the decision to offer these lengths in MakerBeamXL black anodised. These MakerBeamXL Kossel lenghts will only be available in small numbers. The MakerBeamXL Kossel lengths will be put online once we are out of stock for the OpenBeam black (100696, 100674) and clear anodised (101563, 101552).

Products (almost) out of stock

Several products are (almost) out of stock: MakerBeam black anodised kits, MakerBeamXL black anodised kits, 600mm black anodised, 300mm black anodised etc.
Therefore we are also (almost) out of stock for our kits. Black anodised beams (MakerBeamXL or MakerBeam) have lowest stock levels.

We are expecting a new batch of beams coming in this July.  Around July 20th 2017 we will be fully stocked again.

You might want to check our resellers for their stock levels if you want a particular item that is out of stock in our webshop. Here is the link: Country list – Where to buy

On our bargain rack – buy four packs with 25% discount

We still have some old beams and these are now on sale for a bargain price. Already at 50% discount now there is an added 25% volume discount when you buy four while stock lasts.

Here is a link to our webshop SALE-page.

This volume discount also applies to screws with a serrated head. In our quest for the perfect screw for MakerBeam we also made screws with a head that has a serrated bottom. We ultimately chose to go with the square headed screws we still sell nowadays. Here is a link to an old blog post: MakerBeam’s test of the bolts

And last but not least we also have 900mm MakerBeam lengths in clear for sale. The thread tapping of this batch of 900mm beams was done in such a way that we cannot guarantee good quality. Therefore we offer these 900mm lengths at a discount.

Possible solution for Storage Box

We found a possible “candidate” for the new storage box. It tested good. According to our experience it’s a really good quality plastic box with lots of useful features: e.g.: click-on lid locking system, 2 levels for storing… Ideal for storing and separating the smaller pieces, and has spacious place for even the 300 mm beams. Here are some photos to give a little hint how it looks and how the MakerBeam / OpenBeam items fit in it. We still search a bit further, but maybe you will meet with this one in our product range.

MakerBeam Storage Box – sold out

Because of the terminated production the MakerBeam Storage Box is not available at the moment. We are searching for new solutions/sources, that we can offer instead, and we let you know if the new box is available.

The more possible sources we have, the more suitable solution we can find. So, if anyone has an idea or contact for sources of plastic box that is ideal storage place for different sized beams, nuts, bolts brickets and other accessories, please share it with us.  Thanks in advance!
