From Peter we received a great project where Fisher Technik is combined with MakerBeamXL. MakerBeamXL is used to strengthen the model of a windmill, see picture. For MakerBeamXL products in our shop, click here.
Peter researched his windmill model carefully. The model is build in 1:25 and measures 1m30 in height and 1m15 in width.
If you want to know more about his research please visit the fisher technik community website (ftcommunity.de). You can learn more about the project there.
Below is a video of the great project that took months to build.
In the previous post the Light Box was shown. The feet on the light box were different from the feet we sell. It turns out that Stefan made the feet himself.
Stefan sent us the pictures of his Light Box (link to post webshop blog). The feet on the light box were different from the feet we sell. Stefan had actually designed and 3D printed new feet himself. The feet are a bit wider and higher. He needed more space from the bottom to fit the planned additional lighting. The extra is light is set to be mounted outside the box to shine into the cube from the bottom upward. See pictures of the special designed feet below.
He also made a photo cube which should rotate (driven by a small motor). Therefore he also created a special holder. See the first picture of the prototype below as well.
Stefan is planning to be present at the Maker Faire in Vienna. He wants to show all his work and all MakerBeam parts at this faire. The Maker Faire in Vienna (Austria) is scheduld for May 5 and 6. Here is a link to the Maker Faire Vienna website.
Stefan created a professional Light Box using MakerBeam and translucent acrylic glass.
The professional Light Box (or Light Tent) is made using MakerBeam and translucent acrylic glass. The prototype as shown in the pictures measures 300x300mm. It has integrated dimmable LED light and adjustable light temperature. Through the partial transparent acrylic glass also indirect lighting from 4 sides is possible.
Stefan Gschroefl (from ConstrAct, Austria) is planning to enhance it to 600mmx600mm. Also he wants to add light from the bottom. In product photography this is important to avoid shadows.
MakerBeamXL will replace the black anodised OpenBeam Kossel longer lengths (750mm, 360mm) once these are out stock. The clear anodised version and the shorter lengths (600mm and 240mm) will not be replaced.
Due to disappointing sales we made the decision to stop selling the shorter lengths that are meant for building a Kossel printer. The 600mm OpenBeam black (100685 – already sold out) and clear (100832) anodised and the OpenBeam 240mm black (100641) and clear anodised (100809) are end of line.
For the longer lengths (750mm and 360mm) we made the decision to offer these lengths in MakerBeamXL black anodised. These MakerBeamXL Kossel lenghts will only be available in small numbers. The MakerBeamXL Kossel lengths will be put online once we are out of stock for the OpenBeam black (100696, 100674) and clear anodised (101563, 101552).
Sensornet (.nl/english) is specialised in accurate, long-term measurement of environmental noise vibrations, air pollution and other environmental parameters. In order to calibrate their vibration sensor they needed a test setup. They wanted to test the response of the vibration sensor before it was used outdoors. First they looked into using a laboratory stand. This idea was rejected since the specialised equipment is rather expensive for just a simple test setup. Then they came across MakerBeam.
MakerBeamXL was thought to be the best option to use to carry the weight of their equipment and the lengths needed. Below you can see some pictures they sent us of their test setup in the office. The laser measurement device (in yellow) is used to calibrate the vibration sensor. The sensor is just above the metal tube. The metal tube is the vibration generator.
Several products are (almost) out of stock: MakerBeam black anodised kits, MakerBeamXL black anodised kits, 600mm black anodised, 300mm black anodised etc.
Therefore we are also (almost) out of stock for our kits. Black anodised beams (MakerBeamXL or MakerBeam) have lowest stock levels.
We are expecting a new batch of beams coming in this July. Around July 20th 2017 we will be fully stocked again.
You might want to check our resellers for their stock levels if you want a particular item that is out of stock in our webshop. Here is the link: Country list – Where to buy
